S Manning signs tender with Bears

Restricted free agent safety Danieal Manning has signed his one-year tender offer from the Chicago Bears.

Manning has started 40 of 61 games played during his four seasons with the Bears. he has six interceptions, six forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

A valuable special teams contributor, Manning has 11 kickoff returns for 40 or more yards over the past two seasons, which leads the NFL. He averaged a league-high 29.7 yards per kickoff return (1,070 yards on 36 returns) in 2008.

The Bears on Wednesay also signed defensive end Corey Wootton, a fourth-round pick out of Northwestern, to a four-year deal and waived former Wildcats quarterback Brett Basanez.
