Ryan helps players avoid housework?

You know it's a good press conference in New York when Rex Ryan has to clarify that he did not tell Jets players to abstain from sex this week.

According to newly acquired kick returner Josh Cribbs, Ryan instructed the team to take it easy on the homefront in advance of the all-important Patriots game, the New York Post reports.

“He mentioned that to the whole team,” Cribbs said. “I saw it in his eyes in the team meeting. It’s equivalent to a Cleveland-Pittsburgh game. They really get up for it. The fans get up for it, and I see how important it is for the Jets to win. This is a division game. We play them twice, and I can tell he really wants this game.

“He was like, ‘Rest your legs, you go home, don’t do nothing for your wife. Say, "Baby, next week. I’m going to take out the trash next week. I’ll take the kids to practice next week because I got to rest for this game."’ I’m going to tell him to put it on paper so when I give it to my wife I’m like, ‘Hey, Rex said that I don’t have to take out the trash.’ He might get a call from my wife.”

Stay off your feet, basically.

Somebody in the media scrum told Cribbs that sounded like Ryan told them not to have sex with their wives.

"You all are silly," Cribbs said.

Ryan later clarified that he was referring to household chores, as sort of a Patriots-week coupon for guys looking to get out of some housework. Here's betting a few Jets fans try to cash that one in, too.
