Roy Miller tests injured knee during Jags minicamp
Wednesday's minicamp practice offered Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Roy Miller an opportunity participate in his first team activity since injuring his knee last December.
Miller, who is coming off surgery to repair a torn meniscus, participated in 11-on-11 drills.
“It was good to go out there and gauge it,” Miller said, via the Florida Times-Union. “I hadn’t seen any action since last season but it felt really good. I just have to keep progressing, keep taking strides and keep getting stronger.”
The 27-year-old, who signed a four-year, $16.25 contract extension with the Jaguars last season just prior to injuring his knee, said his return to practice was important both physically and psychologically.
"It was a big mental gymnastics day, getting past the scared factor of going through the moves you haven’t done in a long time,” Miller said. “That’s what you have to overcome first and (Wednesday) was a good step toward that.”
“I felt like I could go full speed, but there are certain things like quick cuts and taking angles that I’m still working on."
The 6-foot-2, 310-pound Miller, who is entering his third season with the Jaguars, said he plans to stay in Jacksonville during the break before training camp to continue working on strengthening his knee.
