Rookie A.J. Cann makes his first start for Jacksonville
And injury to right guard Brandon Linder provided Jacksonville Jaguars rookie A.J. Cann with an opportunity to make his first NFL start in Sunday's 16-13 overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
Cann, Jacksonville's third-round pick in last April's draft started in place of Linder, who missed the game with a shoulder injury suffered Sept. 23. Linder was able to play in last week's loss to the New England Patriots, before being declared out for the Colts' game.
“It was how I expected — tough and physical,” Cann said, per the Florida Times-Union. “It was fun and I feel blessed that I had an opportunity show what I can do.
“There were some things I can get better at, but overall I think I did a decent job. I didn’t have too many screw-ups mentally.”
Cann made it through the game without being called for a penalty.
