ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Dallas quarterback Tony Romo is active as the backup on Thanksgiving for the first time since 2005, the year before he replaced Drew Bledsoe as the starter.

Romo is No. 2 behind rookie Dak Prescott on Thursday against Washington. Prescott, who took the job when Romo broke a bone in his back in the preseason, has led the Cowboys to nine straight wins and the NFL's best record.

Last Thanksgiving, Romo was in his second game back after a broken left collarbone knocked him out for seven games. He broke the same collarbone in the third quarter of a loss to Carolina and missed the rest of the season.

Cowboys backup tackle Chaz Green is inactive for the seventh straight game with foot and back injuries. He started twice early in the season when 2015 Pro Bowler Tyron Smith was out with a back problem.
