Richardson: Wilkerson will attend minicamp on Tuesday

Published Jun. 8, 2015 8:13 p.m. ET

New York Jets defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson has had quite the offseason as he continues to try and receive a contract extension from the Jets. Much has been made about him missing all of the team's voluntary OTAs over the past couple of weeks and it has led to speculation as to whether or not he would skip out on the team's mandatory minicamp that starts on Tuesday.

According to the New York Post early last Thursday, Wilkerson was going to attend the Jets' minicamp. However, the situation got cloudier later that day when Wilkerson's agent Chad Wiestling said, "We have yet to decide whether to attend or not."

It appears as if there is finally some clarity to the situation as ESPN's Josina Anderson is reporting that teammate Sheldon Richardson told her that Wilkerson will be attending the start of minicamp.

If Wilkerson missed this week's minicamp, he would've been fined $72,000 as per the NFL's collective bargaining agreement.

Wilkerson is entering the final year of his rookie deal which will pay him $6.9 million for the 2015 season.
