Reports: Troubled ex-Lions receiver arrested again, this time in LA
A series of off-field issues led to Titus Young's release by the Detroit Lions. Apparently, his exit from the NFL has not led to an end to his troubles, however.
Young, the troubled former Lions wide receiver, was once again arrested last week, multiple outlets have reported. According to the Detroit Free Press, Young was arrested in Los Angeles on July 9 and charged with a felony — battery with serious bodily injury — as well as four misdemeanors.
Young's bail was set at $105,000, and he was being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles, the L.A. District Attorney's office told NFL.com. It was unclear from the reports whether Young had been released or remains in custody.
According to the reports, the arrest came just one day before Young was due to appear in a Newport Beach, Calif., courtroom, where he is facing felony charges from one of the 2013 incidents.
Young was released by the Lions in February 2013 after a series of incidents in practices, workouts and even games. But then it got worse for the 24-year-old 2011 second-round pick out of Boise State, as Young was arrested three times in a week in May 2013. Those reportedly resulted in a total of 11 charges. Young's father has since said his son is receiving treatment for a mental disorder.
In two seasons with Detroit, Young had 81 catches for 990 yards and 10 TDs.
