Houston Texans running back Arian Foster underwent surgery to repair his injured groin Friday, according to a report.

Per ESPN's Tania Ganguli, a timetable for the Pro Bowl running back's recovery is unclear, but the team is reportedly hopeful he will be ready to play in less than 12 weeks.

Foster suffered the injured during Houston's practice Monday night.

Although the Texans brought free-agent running back Pierre Thomas in for a visit, he left without signing. For now, the team appears content to stick with backups Alfred Blue, Jonathan Grimes, Chris Polk and Kenny Hilliard. Polk is currently dealing with a hamstring injury.

"We didn't make a move immediately because we felt like we were OK," Texans general manager Rick Smith said, via ESPN. "Chris Polk is on the mend and so hopefully he'll be back soon. We'll just keep adjusting to whatever happens out here on the field."
