Report: Romo's wedding date revealed

Published May. 4, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will marry local reporter Candice Crawford, little sister of "Gossip Girl" star Chace Crawford, at a historic Texas mansion, TMZ reported Wednesday.

The NFL star has been guarded about the details of his nuptials since he popped the question to Crawford at her 24th birthday party in December, but a guest leaked the wedding invite revealing the May 28 wedding date.

"I'm pretty laid back about stuff," the bride-to-be told OK! magazine in February about how she was handling the wedding planning.

"I don't care what type of shape the napkin is, I really could care less . . . wedding planning is definitely taking on a job of its own," she said, adding that she took a leave of absence from her broadcasting job in the lead-up to her big day.

The former Miss Missouri began dating one of Dallas' most eligible bachelors in 2009, two months after he infamously dumped singer Jessica Simpson.

Romo, 31, was previously linked to "American Idol" winner Carrie Underwood — who was a one-time love of Chace Crawford.

Despite the potentially awkward connection, Romo told the celebrity magazine his fiancee's brother is a "great guy" with a "great head on his shoulders."

The 25-year-old actor — who plays Manhattan preppie Nate Archibald on the hit CW show — struck a deal last week to avoid charges after he was caught with less than two ounces of marijuana at a parking lot in his hometown of Plano, Tex.
