Report: RG3 cleared to start Sunday

Published Dec. 22, 2012 12:00 a.m. ET

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has been cleared to play and will start on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to an ESPN report.

Griffin, who missed Week 15 with a knee injury, has been reportedly cleared by doctors after a solid week of practice. Doctors have also said there won’t be many limitations imposed on the young superstar during a critical road game in the team’s chase for a division title.

RG3 is enjoying a phenomenal rookie season, accounting for 24 total touchdowns with just 4 interceptions. He has also completed 66.4 percent of his passes, amassed a 104.2 rating and is arguably the leading candidate to be named the offensive rookie of the year.

Griffin was listed as probable on the Redskins’ injury report.
