Report: Ravens expect Steve Smith back in 2016
By Jesse Reed
Apparently, Steve Smith Sr. isn’t content with ending his career on the IR.
Before Smith was injured, he’d indicated that 2015 would be his final season. But after his season-ending injury, word circulated that he was leaning towards a return, and head coach John Harbaugh said he had “a feeling Steve Smith will be back” for another season.
Right before his unfortunate injury, Smith had passed Cris Carter on the all-time receiving yards list, moving into the top 10. And with 76 receiving touchdowns, he ranks No. 28 all time. Another normal season for Smith would see him potentially vault into the top 20 in receiving touchdowns, which would certainly help his cause to enter the Hall of Fame one day.
Baltimore could sure use him back next year, as well. The Ravens’ receiving corps is lacking depth, talent and leadership, and provided his recovery goes well he clearly has something left to give.
