Report: Pryor's appeal to be Thursday

Published Sep. 14, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

Oakland Raiders rookie quarterback Terrelle Pryor's appeal hearing for his five-game suspension will be held Thursday, the NFL Network reported, citing sources.

Pryor was a last-minute addition to the supplemental draft's eligibility list last month, following his decision to leave Ohio State in June amid the tattoos-for-memorabilia scandal that forced coach Jim Tressel to resign.

The Raiders selected Pryor in the third round after he agreed to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's stipulation that he accept the same five-game suspension he would have incurred if he had stayed at Ohio State.

He and his representatives originally said they would not appeal the suspension, but then changed their mind and reportedly formally requested an appeal hearing last Friday.

The 22-year-old, who signed a four-year, $2.7 million deal with Oakland, was eligible to play in the preseason, but the Raiders did not use him in the two games for which he appeared on their roster.
