Report: Protective order filed vs. Owens
A former girlfriend of Atlanta Falcons cornerback Chris Owens has filed a temporary protective order against him after finding her Georgia apartment ransacked, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Wednesday.
According to a police report, Latia Terry, 22, returned to her home Monday to find holes in the walls, her television busted and several possessions piled up in front of her closet covered in bleach.
Terry, who is the mother of Owens' nine-month-old son, told police she left her apartment in Lawrenceville, about 32 miles northeast of Atlanta, at 11:00pm Sunday and upon returning at 11:25am the next day, found her place a shambles.
The officer dispatched to the scene reported the home had a strong odor of bleach. The report indicated several items, including pictures and mirrors were busted throughout the apartment and the crib in the child's room was torn apart.
Terry estimated the clothing, shoes, purses and jewelry covered in bleach were worth $15,000.
According to the Journal-Constitution, a police spokesman did not confirm Owens was a suspect in the case, saying that "charges will be made once a suspect is developed and probable cause exists for arrest."
Owens, 24, was drafted by the Falcons in 2009 out of San Jose State University. He has amassed three interceptions and 69 tackles in two seasons with Atlanta.
