Chicago Bears defensive end Julius Peppers has been fined $10,000 for the helmet-to-helmet hit on Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in Sunday's NFC Championship Game, the Chicago Tribune reported Thursday.

The hit to Rodgers' jaw came during the fourth quarter of the game.

The nine-year veteran pass rusher received a 15-yard penalty for the illegal hit.

SI.com reported Tuesday that Rodgers credited his new, high-tech helmet for preventing what could have been his third concussion of the season.

"It hurt, I can tell you that,” Rodgers said. “He hit me pretty good. I know what a concussion feels like. I'm just grateful this wasn't hard enough to give me another one.''

ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported the fine.
