Report: Patriots' Edelman cleared to finish game after concussion test

Published Feb. 2, 2015 12:33 p.m. ET

PHOENIX -- A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was tested for a concussion and cleared to finish the Super Bowl after taking a big hit in the fourth quarter.

The person said Monday that Edelman was checked on the New England sideline by medical staff and an independent neurologist. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter.

Edelman was leveled by Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor after making a reception with about 11 minutes left in New England's 28-24 win on Sunday night.

He stayed in the game for the rest of the series and caught another pass to set up Tom Brady's 5-yard touchdown pass to Danny Amendola that cut Seattle's lead to 24-21.
