Report: Giants' Odell Beckham Jr. might be out until training camp

Published Jun. 8, 2015 8:43 p.m. ET

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is reportedly dealing with a sore left hamstring that could keep him out for the reminder of the team’s OTAs and their mandatory minicamp (via NFL Media’s Kimberly Jones).

According to Jones, Beckham’s absence is reported to be precautionary. It is also expected the star wide receiver will be ready to participate in the team’s upcoming training camp later this summer. Fellow wide receiver Victor Cruz is also projected to be ready to participate in training camp after being sidelined since October while rehabbing from knee surgery.

The most optimistic outcome for the Giants would be to have two healthy receivers ready to kick off training camp. Cruz’ surgery was a difficult one, which resulted in a long and tedious recovery. For the Giants’ sake, hopefully Beckham’s hamstring injury is less intense than the one that saw him miss four games as a rookie. As we all know, hamstring injuries can linger. Keeping him sidelined during the summer, even as a precaution, makes the most sense for the Giants here.
