Report: Cowboys looking for Tony Romo to return in Week 8

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The Cowboys are targeting Week 8’s game against the Eagles for quarterback Tony Romo to return from his back injury, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports.

Romo broke a bone in his back during Dallas’s third preseason game in late August. The team declined to place him on injured reserve, hoping that he could return before he’d be eligible to come off IR in Week 9.

Rookie Dak Prescott has started the first three games at quarterback for the Cowboys, helping lead them to a 2–1 start.

Romo broke his collarbone twice last season and was limited to just four games. He also fractured two bones in his back in 2014.
