Report: Colts express interest in QB Jason Campbell

Published Nov. 12, 2015 2:00 p.m. ET

The Indianapolis Colts are in need of a backup quarterback with starter Andrew Luck out for the next 2-6 weeks, and according to one report, the team reached out a retired signal-caller to gauge his interest in returning to the NFL.

Per Pro Football Talk, the Colts contacted veteran quarterback Jason Campbell about serving as Matt Hasselbeck's backup.

The 33-year-old Campbell, who has 79 regular-season starts to his credit, played for Colts offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski with the Cleveland Browns in 2013.

However, according to Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports, Campbell isn't interested in a return to the league.

With Luck out with a lacerated kidney suffered in last week's win over the Broncos, Hasselbeck is currently the only healthy quarterback on the Indianapolis roster.

The Colts are off with a bye this week.
