Report: Browns approached the Giants about No. 9 overall
The Cleveland Browns have been linked to what seems like a new draft trade rumor every day. It has been widely reported that they are interested in trading up in the draft, and according to a report from Bleacher Report's Matt Miller, their trade partner could be the New York Giants.
According to Miller, a scenario that is being floated around by a high-level team source is the Giants and Browns have had initial talks about the Giants trading back.
Although every rumor should be taken with a grain of salt this close to the draft, the proposal makes sense. The Giants are in the market for an offensive tackle, and it is debatable if any offensive tackle prospect is worthy of the No. 9 overall selection. If they were to trade back, they could acquire an additional draft selection likely somewhere on day two.
It is also important to keep in mind that Giants general manager Jerry Reese has never traded back in the draft's first round. The last time the Giants traded back in the first round was during the 2006 NFL Draft. Ernie Accorsi, general manager at the time, traded the No. 26 overall selection to the Pittsburgh Steelers for No. 32 overall along with a third and fourth-round selection.
