Report: Arian Foster hoping to return in Week 2
By Jesse Reed
Houston Texans running back Arian Foster could potentially make his way back onto the field for Week 2.
According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the dominating running back is telling his teammates that he hopes to play next weekend when the Texans take on the Panthers in Carolina.
While there is no doubt Houston could use Foster's services against the Panthers, he may want to pick another game to return. Carolina’s run defense is brutal, and inside linebacker Luke Kuechly is the best in the business.
La Canfora notes that Foster’s “worst case scenario, barring any unforeseen setback, would be playing in Week 3.”
This is an exceptionally quick recovery from groin surgery, which Foster underwent just over a month ago. While there is no doubt the Texans will be much better on offense when he returns, a bit of caution might be in order to ensure he isn’t being set up for another extended tenure on the team’s injured reserve list.
Still, the report follows in line with what we’ve been hearing since his surgery. The team has been reporting, as has Foster, that his recovery has been optimal and that a return to action would likely happen sooner than originally anticipated.
Fantasy owners who took a gamble drafting Foster early could soon be singing for joy as he carries Houston’s offense once again in 2015.
