Redskins will use rotation at running back with Morris and Jones

Published Nov. 3, 2015 11:24 a.m. ET

Don't expect any noticeable changes to the Washington Redskins' running game after the team's bye week. Head coach Jay Gruden confirmed Monday that we will see more of the same -- with both Alfred Morris and Matt Jones rotating on early downs.

“You’re going to see them both play a lot,” Gruden said of Morris and Jones, per John Keim of ESPN. “They’re both going to get their touches.”

The Redskins' run game has struggled as of late. Morris is averaging a career-low 3.32 yards per carry and he is on pace to not eclipse the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the first time in his career.

Jones has flashed at times, but he needs to be more consistent as a runner and in pass protection.

Unless one player pulls ahead with a dominating string of performances, this backfield should remain a committee for the remainder of the season.
