Redskins get CB Bashaud Breeland back for preseason finale

The Washington Redskins finally got some good news on the injury front on Thursday night when cornerback Bashaud Breeland suited up in the preseason finale. Breeland used the exhibition to fine tune his game after missing several weeks of training camp with a sprained MCL.

“I was really excited. I wanted to come out, I didn’t want to come back week two and just get out there, I wanted to come out tonight and get the rust out,” Breeland said per the Washington Times.

“I had a good bit of downs tonight, lesson learned, getting back to the speed of the game. On the double move, I took my eyes off the receiver a little bit and jumped the route.”

Before the injury, Breeland was running with the first time defense in nickel situations. He could take over again as the slot cornerback at the start of the regular season. If Deangelo Hall struggles to regain form, Breeland could also eventually push to start on outside in the Redskins' base defense.
