Redskins Forbath misses FG to end streak at 17

Published Dec. 30, 2012 8:53 p.m. ET

Washington Redskins kicker Kai Forbath has missed a field-goal attempt, ending his NFL-record streak of 17 consecutive makes to begin a career.

Forbath's try from 37 yards away against the Dallas Cowboys in the first quarter Sunday night hit off the right post.

Forbath made two field goals last week to surpass Saints kicker Garrett Hartley's old mark of 16 in a row at the start of an NFL career.

Forbath won the Lou Groza Award as the nation's top college kicker as a junior at UCLA in 2009.
