Redskins DT Terrance Knighton on RGIII: He's ready to prove everyone wrong

BY foxsports • July 27, 2015

Not everyone is buying the words of an anonymous NFL insider who claimed that Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is "done" in the NFL. Griffin's newest teammate Terrance Knighton believes that Griffin's recent shortcomings can be easily addressed.

“He has all the tools to be a great quarterback,” Knighton said on NFL Network's "Total Access" program, via the Washington Post. “His main thing is just confidence and just going out there every day and just proving that he’s the leader and doing things right all the time. He had a great rookie year, so he put a lot of pressure on himself, but I think he’s ready to prove everyone wrong.”

Griffin earned praise from head coach Jay Gruden during the team's spring practices. Gruden talked about how Griffin has shown a much better understanding of the offensive scheme.

In training camp, Griffin will have to prove to coaches that he's on his way to becoming a master of the offense. Griffin's issues with his mechanics can be tied in part to his slow progression through his reads in 2014. That was the first year for him in Gruden's offense, but the training wheels are now gone. Griffin's 2016 fifth-year rookie option is only guaranteed for injury. If he doesn't take a big step forward, like Knighton is predicting, he will most likely need to find work with another team in 2016.
