Ravens fan in critical condition after altercation with Raiders fans

A 55-year-old Baltimore Ravens fan was attacked by two Oakland Raiders fans at M&T Bank Stadium during Sunday's 28–27 win by Oakland and is in critical condition in the hospital. 

The Ravens fan, Joseph Bauer, was involved in a verbal altercation near a concession stand toward the end of the game before he was attacked. He was struck and suffered  a subdural hematoma, which causes blood to pool on the brain. Doctors told the family that he has a 30% survival chance.

Both Raiders fans, Scott Smith and Andrew Nappi, were arrested and charged with first- and second-degree assault. Smith was released on $25,000 bail.

The Ravens issued a statement on Monday, according to the Baltimore Sun.

“Our sympathies and prayers go out to Mr. Joseph Bauer, his wife Sharon and the rest of his family. We have reached out to the family and have received a report on Mr. Bauer's condition. We are deeply concerned about this assault and are learning as much as we can about it. Safety for our fans is a top priority. Confrontational and inflammatory behavior is never tolerated and is unacceptable at Ravens home games.”
