Rams to wear blue and white helmets for the first time in nearly 50 years
The Los Angeles Rams won't be able to wear their Color Rush uniforms this season due to the Seattle Seahawks donning lime green Thursday night, but that won’t stop LA from adding a bit of nostalgia to its look.
When the Rams take the field, they’ll be rocking alternate helmets – their third style this season. The blue and white color scheme goes back to the 1960s and '70s, when Roman Gabriel and Deacon Jones were leading the team.
Wearing alternate helmets isn’t a commonality in the NFL these days due to all of the rules and regulations for player safety, but the Rams will have done it twice in 2016, giving them three different helmet styles just this season. Most teams have worn only one.
When teams do wear their Color Rush uniforms, they’re often paired with their traditional helmets. That’s because the only way to change the look of helmets is to use stickers and decals, considering players are assigned just one helmet for safety reasons.
These should be a nice touch on what’s going to be a fairly unexciting get-up for the Rams. The Seahawks, on the other hand, won’t go unnoticed with their nuclear-color green garb.

When Rams wear white helmet horns on Thurs night, it'll mark their third horn color this season. Pretty sure that's a single-season record. pic.twitter.com/7ndwZhUwZz
