Rams release Sims-Walker

Published Oct. 17, 2011 8:04 p.m. ET

Wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker has been released by the St. Louis Rams, a day after he was a surprise game-day inactive.

Brandon Lloyd, acquired from the Denver Broncos on Monday for a conditional draft pick, took Sims-Walker's spot on the roster.

The Rams signed Sims-Walker in free agency to add a veteran presence to a young receiving corps. Sims-Walker had six catches against the New York Giants but dropped two passes in Week 4 against the Washington Redskins.
