Rams DC Gregg Williams: Defense 'light years ahead' of last year
The St. Louis Rams are poised to have one of the best defenses in all of the NFL. They return all 11 starters from last year and have added depth with free agent defensive lineman Nick Fairley.
Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams could not be happier with the way the defense has looked so far this offseason. Everyone worked really hard to be in their very best shape. They all are familiar with Williams' schemes and will not lose any time in training camp getting to know Williams.
"The guys took it to heart and really had a very good spring in the weight room, in the training room and then here on the field," Williams said, via NFL.com. "It's light years ahead of where we were last year (at this time) because they didn't know me, I didn't know them.
"Just from a terminology (standpoint), are we speaking the same language? Do we understand what we really want? It took a little bit of time for all of us to get acclimated last year."
Williams knows the Rams have the pieces in place for a special year. It will be up to him to lead the defense and make sure all the talent he has produces on the field.
