Raiders' Hall of Famer Haynes likes what he sees from Mack
A Raiders' Hall of Fame defender is getting on the Khalil Mack hype train.
Nine-time Pro Bowler Mike Haynes said he hopes the up-and-coming linebacker can be a cornerstone for another era of great Raiders defense.
"I saw him once last year and I liked what I saw," Haynes told ESPN. "You can see the talent, but it takes more than one player. I hope he continues to improve and he can help set a fire that makes this defense dominate again."
Like Haynes, Mack is a former No. 5 overall pick who showed tons of promise in his rookie season.
But Haynes was the missing piece the Raiders needed when he joined the team in 1983. He joined with Lester Hayes to form the scariest cornerback tandem in league history.
That's why Haynes knows Mack can't do it alone. But if his former team keeps building around Mack, maybe the outside linebacker can push his team over the top too.
