Raiders granted extension to reach sellout

Published Nov. 4, 2010 6:17 p.m. ET

The Oakland Raiders have been granted a 24-hour extension to sell out this weekend's game against Kansas City and avoid a local TV blackout.

The Raiders have had 11 straight home games blacked out since last season's opener. Games need to be sold out 72 hours before kickoff to avoid a blackout in a 75-mile radius. The league often grants extensions if teams are close.

Oakland is averaging 41,153 fans a game this season, with a high of more than 48,000 for the home opener against St. Louis. The Raiders have had 80 of 124 regular-season home games blacked out since moving back from Los Angeles for the 1995 season.
