QB coach: 'Positive things happened'

Well-renowned quarterback coach Tom Martinez was reportedly in grave condition two weeks ago, but has recently been given new hope, the San Francisco Chronicle reported on Sunday.

Martinez, who is most notably Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s mentor, has been victimized of complications from diabetes and a failing kidney but “positive things happened.”

After a second opinion at UCLA this week, doctors said the root of his severe condition may be the pacemaker that he had put in a couple months ago. After adjustments were made Martinez’s health vastly improved.

“I’m feeling better and I’m optimistic after being almost completely certain that I was going to die,” Martinez told the Chronicle.

Recently, a kidney donor with the right blood type was found and Martinez will retreat back to Westwood for some internal tests to see if he can handle the surgery. If a suitable donor can be found, Martinez will also undergo a heart transplant.

“Incredible, isn’t it? They might try to do a double transplant if everything works,” Martinez said.
