Point spread drops, but Steelers still underdogs vs. Patriots

Published May. 12, 2015 10:27 a.m. ET

Tom Brady's absence from the season opener has sent the point spread tumbling down, but the Patriots are still favored over the Steelers in the season-opening game on Sept. 10.

New England opened as a 6.5-point favorite before sportsbooks took the game off the board with a potential Brady suspension looming. While not all lines have been released, current spreads range from even money up to 2.5 points in favor of the Patriots, according to Vegas Insider.

The over/under has also been lowered to 49, a drop of four points by most books.

Unless Brady wins an appeal and gets his suspension completely dropped, Jimmy Garoppolo will be the starter when New England begins its title defense in 2015.
