Plaxico Burress goes off on Cris Carter over 'fall guy' advice

Published Aug. 25, 2015 2:36 p.m. ET

Plaxico Burress knows plenty about getting himself into trouble off the football field, but the former NFL wide receiver insists he never had a “fall guy” in his crew.

On Monday night, Burress went on a Twitter rant about the infamous comments Cris Carter made at the 2014 NFL Rookie Symposium. As someone who was fined countless times and once shot himself in the leg, Burress felt he needed to condemn Carter’s advice.

Plaxico’s opinion isn’t exactly unique. Carter’s horrible advice for incoming rookies can be seen in this video, and it is so misguided that it’s almost surreal. The NFL knew right away that Carter had made a mistake, which is why the league tried to wipe his comments from the record.

Of course, there were plenty of Twitter trolls who told Burress they don’t want to hear preaching from someone who shot himself in the leg. Those people must not have seen Burress’ rant against Nick Saban a few weeks back.
