Philadelphia Eagles Eyeing Yet Another Trade Target

If there is one thing Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman knows how to do, it’s make a deal. Seems another one could be on the horizon.

One thing that is becoming clear about the Eagles offense is its lack of legitimate playmakers. They really have no true #1 wide receivers or running backs. If they are going to make a success out of prized rookie quarterback Carson Wentz, they must do everything in their power to provide him with weapons. They already traded for wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham from Tennessee. He’s been okay but it’s clear more is needed.

The Eagles offense ranked 30th in the NFL in passing yards at just 210 per game. Even so the team is 4-2. So it stands to reason they could improve their standing in the NFC if they can improve on that stand. This is a good football team but they have an Achilles heel. Perhaps the right maneuver on the market would change that.

Seems there may even be a potential target in mind according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

Torrey Smith has spent some miserable seasons in San Francisco thus far. He had a career-low 663 yards last year and has just 199 yards in seven games so far in 2016. With the 49ers 1-6, rumors are growing that they’re looking to cut payroll and stockpile draft picks for next year. Smith would be near the top of that list.

He’s only 27-years old though. So he should still have a good, long career ahead of him. All he needs is to find the right fit on a team who understands how to use his talents. Doug Pederson is one of the better offensive minds in football. No doubt Roseman and his staff believe the head coach would be able to find a niche for Smith to fit comfortably in.

Wentz has plenty of arm to get it down the field. All that is left to ask is what about compensation? Odds are it will take something like a mid round pick to make a deal happen. Thus far there isn’t much movement, but that should change with the deadline approaching.
