Patriots fans chant 'Where is Roger?' during 2015 opener
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell didn't attend the season opener, but the New England Patriots fans had no problem calling him out.
"Where is Roger?" the Gillette Stadium crowd chanted late in the fourth quarter of the Pats' 28-21 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Goodell, who said earlier this week that he's open to changing his role in the league's process for player discipline, became a figurehead for Tom Brady proponents during Deflategate.
A league spokesman confirmed to FOX Sports NFL insider Mike Garafolo on Thursday that Goodell would watch the game on TV because he "believes the focus should be on the game on the field and the festivities celebrating the Patriots' Super Bowl championship."
This marked the first time Goodell, who was named commissioner in 2006, did not attend the annual Thursday night opening game. Goodell's predecessor Paul Tagliabue didn't attend a few of the Thursday openers, also.
