Panthers WR Naanee done for the season

Published Dec. 26, 2011 6:06 p.m. ET

Panthers wide receiver Legedu Naanee broke a small bone in his right foot during Saturday's 48-16 win over Tampa Bay and is done for the season.

Naanee started 10 games this season for the Panthers, with 44 receptions for 467 yards and one touchdown.

Coach Ron Rivera says the injury occurred as Naanee was trying to stretch for a touchdown and his foot got stuck in the grass.

Brandon LaFell will start in Naanee's place in Sunday's season finale at New Orleans. LaFell is coming off his best game as a pro with three catches for 103 yards, including a franchise-record 91-yard touchdown reception from Cam Newton.

Rivera says defensive tackle Andre Neblett suffered a concussion on Saturday and defensive end Charles Johnson has a sore back.
