Panthers sign free agent safety Trenton Robinson

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) The Carolina Panthers have signed free agent safety Trenton Robinson to a one-year contract.

Terms of the deal were not released Monday.

The 5-foot-9, 195-pound Robinson joins the Panthers after spending three seasons with the Washington Redskins. He's played in 38 games with eight starts and had 88 tackles, four passes defensed, two interceptions and a fumble recovery. He started seven games and played in nine last season before being placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

Robinson was drafted in the sixth round in 2013 by the San Francisco 49ers.
