Panthers quarterback Cam Newton says he's actually trilingual
Cam Newton is a man of many talents. On Tuesday, he admitted that he's actually trilingual.
The Panthers quarterback said that he speaks fluent English, Spanish and actually manages "pretty good Ebonics."
Newton was joking in response to being asked about the Panthers' Spanish radio broadcasters Jaime Moreno and Luis Moreno Jr. gaining so much popularity this season, and fans listening to their calls --€“ even the ones who don't speak Spanish.
"It's kind of weird, but it's kind of funny to hear what they're saying," said Newton, who has accounted for 45 touchdowns this season. "We often ask Coach [Ron] Rivera to translate what they're saying."
We actually profiled the Morenos and they gave us a lot of insight into what it has been like to cover the Panthers (17-1) this season.
The Panthers' on-field success has translated into many great calls from the booth.
"That's the great thing about language. You don't have to know what they're saying to hear they're excited," Newton said. Â
