NFL 2016: It's going to be one of those seasons

We’re through the first four weeks of the NFL season and we were wrong, we were wrong about everything.
Look, I know that those NFL preview magazines never get it right but sometimes you’ve got an idea of what will happen in any given year.
Then, you’ve got seasons like this. How do I know it’s going to be one of those seasons?
Your first case is in the NFC East or as I call it the “Sunday Night Football” division. You’ve got three rookies that have taken their teams and cities by storm in the most unexpected fashion. With their two best players out for a lengthy amount of time, the Dallas Cowboys have remained afloat thanks to the rookie backfield combo of Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott.
Prescott has a combined five touchdowns with no turnovers and already over 1,000 yards passing. His backfield mate and fellow rookie Elliott has been just as good. The youngster out of Ohio State has over 400 yards on the ground and three touchdowns.
I was skeptical of the Cowboys because they seem to do this every season, but with two rookies leading the way I was worried. Maybe these guys are the real deal?
Then you go up north to the Cowboys rival in the NFC East, the Eagles.
Philadelphia quarterback Carson Wentz has turned the eastern part of Pennsylvania into “Wentzlvania.” The Eagles are 3-0 with Wentz throwing for five touchdowns and over 700 yards. In the summer, there were rumors of a possible “redshirt” year that Wentz would take to get ready. Then an injury to Teddy Bridgewater in Minnesota made room for Wentz and sent the incumbent Sam Bradford packing.

Bradford has now seen a career revival in the most unlikeliest of places with the Minnesota Vikings. Bradford, along with Wentz, has his team undefeated and among the surprises in the NFL at the quarter pole. The most stunning aspect is Bradford’s quick adaptation to the Vikings offense.
Not only did Bradford sit out the season’s first game but then loses his most valuable weapon in Adrian Peterson. Through all of that, Bradford wakes up on Tuesday morning as the quarterback of an undefeated Minnesota team.
Speaking of undefeated teams, joining the Vikings and Eagles as the lone undefeateds are the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Denver Broncos.
I’ve written about how wrong I was about the Broncos before (click here). Somehow, with Trevor Siemian and now Paxton Lynch, the Broncos seem to be better than a year ago. The defense remains among the best with its timely takeaways. The Broncos may be here to stay.
For every good, there is the bad. Lets just take a look at the teams from last season’s NFC Championship Game. Both Carolina and Arizona are sitting at 1-3 and look like turds spinning down the toilet of disappointment.
On Sunday, the Panthers looked like a two-handed touch team as they let the Falcons Julio Jones run wild for 12 catches, 300 yards receiving and one touchdown. Cam Newton’s play continued to be milquetoast and confusing. On a short-yardage two-point conversion, Newton decided to collide with an Atlanta defender, perhaps giving him a concussion. He’s now in jeopardy of missing Monday’s game against Tampa Bay.
This was the year for the Cardinals. The defense was supposed to be among the best in the league. Carson Palmer and that top-flight receiving core was supposed to run the league ragged. That same team who was supposed to dominate the the NFL according to most, if not all the magazines and experts is now sitting at 1-3 after a loss to the 3-1 Rams.
Wait. *checks standings*
The Rams are 3-1?!?
Oh boy, this is going to be one of “those” seasons isn’t it?
