The recent New York Jets news about wide receiver Eric Decker isn’t good for the Jets. Head coach Todd Bowles ruled out Decker for Sunday due to a partially torn rotator cuff. The absence of Decker will certainly be felt on Sunday against the Seahawks. However, the real concern has to be how long he will be out for.

Bowles didn’t say much about how long Decker will be out for with the week-to-week prognosis, but this is something that might require surgery. Bowles did say that it is too early to tell whether or not Decker will need surgery.

With Decker out on Sunday, the Jets will be turning to some of their talented young wide receivers to step. Jalin Marshall has already been ruled out for Sunday, and now it appears to be Robby Anderson and Charone Peake who will see more playing time.

Both Peake and Anderson were great for the Jets in the preseason, and now they will have a chance to shine on Sunday. In addition to Decker being out, Brandon Marshall still isn’t 100% after suffering leg injuries in Buffalo.

Due to injuries to wide receiving corps, Quincy Enunwa will be asked to do more. Enunwa has been a breakout player for the Jets this season, and now his role will expand. The injury to Decker doesn’t come at a good time for quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.

After having the worst game of his career, Fitzpatrick was hoping to bounce back against the Seahawks. Decker being out will not help the Jets in the red zone. Going back to last season he has been a touchdown machine.

Furthermore, the Jets were praised for the depth they had at wide receiver this season. Now, they will have to use it.
