New Orleans Saints injury report vs. San Francisco 49ers
The final New Orleans Saints injury report for their Week 9 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers is out. The Saints have ruled out three players.
New Orleans is finally getting healthy, but a few names are still lingering on the Saints injury report. Dannell Ellerbe, James Laurinaitis, and Daniel Lasco are all officially out for sunday’s game. Ellerbe and Laurinaitis are nursing quad injuries, while Lasco appears to have injured his hamstring during practice earlier this week.
The Saints were planning on taking a RB by committee approach to the Niners game, so Lasco’s injury is disappointing for his fans.

Clearly, though, the most discouraging name on this list is Ellerbe. After finally suiting up for last weeks game against Seattle, Ellerbe saw only limited snaps, rotating in with Nate Stupar. It’s safe to assume he re-aggravated his injury, or possibly that he felt too hampered to contribute. Payton recently said that he expects the team to have Ellerbe back “down the stretch.” Not an encouraging endorsement.
The good news for Saints fans are the names off this list. Delvin Breaux, Terron Armstead, and Sterling Moore are all questionable for the game, as are Stephone Anthony and Jake Lampman. With the assumed return of Sheldon Rankins, the Saints have a chance to field their healthiest team of the year. Against the struggling Niners, that should spell success.
More from Who Dat Dish
Michael Thomas missed friday’s practice with a stomach issue, but looks primed to play. Meanwhile, Kenny Vaccaro and Max Unger, who were both limited at times during the week, escaped any injury designation and will start on Sunday.
Meanwhile, in San Fran, LB Aaron Lynch and CB Rashard Robinson were ruled out. Carlos Hyde is officially listed as questionable, and has participated on a limited basis the last two practices. His status is absolutely vital to the Niners, who feature him in almost every offensive set.
Overall, I’d say this injury report is pretty favorable. Saints fans are used to Ellerbe’s absence at this point. And seeing Breaux listed as questionable is an exciting moment. If the Saints really can get healthy, they may just have a shot at salvaging the season.
