New Bear Kevin White 'checked every box' GM Ryan Pace was looking for
Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace loved what he saw from University of West Virginia wide receiver Kevin White on tape. When Pace invited White to Halas Hall to gather more information about the young man, he came away convinced that White would be a great fit for the team.
In an article on ChicagoBears.com, Pace spoke about how White "checked every box we were looking for." White, the seventh overall pick and the Bears first pick of the 2015 draft also seemed to relish his pre-draft visit at Halas Hall.
"When I went there for my visit it was awesome," White told the site "They explained everything, explained the right concepts. It actually seemed pretty simple and I'm ready to hit it hard so I can help the team win some games."
White went on to speak about his excitement about being on the receiving end of passes thrown by Chicago QB Jay Cutler.
"I know he's a great competitor," White told the website. "I know he hates losing just like myself. He's a great quarterback. He's been doing it for a long time. He'll give you a chance downfield."
White's 2013 season at West Virginia included 35 receptions for 507 yards and five touchdowns, but in 2014 the WR broke out and had 109 receptions for 1,447 yards and 10 touchdowns.
