Miami Dolphins waive 7th round QB Brandon Doughty
Brandon Doughty realized a lifelong dream when the Miami Dolphins selected him in the 7th round of last April’s draft. Now he will realize the business part of football.

Doughty can call Dan Marino a friend. He grew up just down the road from the Dolphins stadium and parlayed a high-school career into a college one that led him to the 7th round. A lifelong Dolphins fan, Doughty beamed when asked about playing for the Dolphins.
His time with Miami, at least for now, has run out. The Dolphins waived Doughty to make room for defensive tackle Chris Jones who the team released when they trimmed down to 53.
The Dolphins needed Jones who was not very consistent in pre-season due to the injury to Earl Mitchell. With Mitchell sidelined at least 6 weeks, Miami needed added depth on the defensive interior line.
Doughty is a candidate for the practice squad if he clears waivers.
Considering that the New England Patriots play the Dolphins this week, it would not be a surprise to see Bill Belichick put in a waiver claim for him and then dump him. He has done it before. The question is would Doughty give them anything. After all, he likely can’t stand New England any more than the rest of us.
