Miami Dolphins release Julius Warmsley

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The Miami Dolphins have opted to release defensive end/defensive tackle Julius Warmsley.

Warmsley turned a lot of head during training camp and made the final 53 man roster but he was not able to make an immediate impact on the field behind Ndamukong Suh and Jordan Phillips.

An undrafted rookie signed by the Houston Texans in 2014, Warmsley spent time with the Seahawks and the Dolphins. The move could be a sign that the Dolphins are ready to bring back one of their injured players.

Chris Culliver, Zach Vigil, are both options and the Dolphins may bring DT Earl Mitchell back as well. In the last three weeks the Dolphins have released Jamil Douglas, Dallas Thomas, Billy Turner, and now Warmsley. They also watched Arian Foster announce his retirement.

Miami has been working out several veterans already during their bye week but no announcement has been made to who will replace Warmsley.
