Marquise Goodwin unlikely to long jump at world championships
Earlier in the week, it was reported that Buffalo Bills wide receiver Marquise Goodwin would be participating in the U.S. Championships for track and field. Specifically, he will be participating in the long jump where he was a two-time national champion while at the University of Texas. He also came in 10th place at the 2012 London Olympics in the event.
If Goodwin is to place within the top three of the competition this weekend, he would qualify for the World Championships held in Beijing. However, the world championships would be held towards the end of training camp.
With that in mind, Goodwin addressed whether or not he would participate in the world championships if he qualified.
"I don't think I'll mess with it this year. Maybe if it was the Olympics," Goodwin said. "I don't think I'll do that (travel to Beijing) unless they encourage it and thought it was a good idea.
"Maybe they could send me there with some Bills gear? Now that would be cool."
Goodwin enters a possible make-or-break season in 2015, especially after recording one catch in 10 total games last year.
