The Tennessee Titans will wrap up their three day minicamp on Thursday and then head off on a six-week break before the start of training camp on July 30. That stretch will offer a chance to get away, and for rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota, that means an opportunity to return home to Hawaii.
Mariota, who taken second overall in April's draft, said plans to relax during the time off, but he also intends to continue his preparation for the upcoming season. In addition to studying the playbook and working out on his own, Mariota said he plans to get organize workouts with some of Tennessee's wide receivers.
“We’ll find something or somewhere to be able to practice," Mariota said, via ESPN's Paul Kuharsky.
Even in Hawaii? Mariota said he'd be up for hosting.
"I’m not opposed to it,” Mariota said. “That’d be a great time for sure.”
Wherever they end up meeting, receiver Hakeem Nicks said the workouts will be important for everyone involved.
“We’ve talked about linking up in July for two or three days, whether it be in Oregon or wherever,” Nicks said. “I told him I’d come to him wherever he is. I do that every offseason. That’s something I’m used to doing. Me and Marcus have talked about it, we don’t have set dates. We’re going to reach out to whoever wants to come for a little gathering.”
“Nobody would want to turn Hawaii down.”
