Madden Simulation Week 5: Washington Redskins Loss By A Single Point

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The Washington Redskins are not projected to defeat the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5, according to a Madden simulation.

The Washington Redskins are apparently going to have a tough time on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. The team is entering an important game, as they have a 2-2 record, but the game against the Ravens is going to be extremely difficult. Baltimore has a tough team, and the Skins need to put together a great game to take them down.

In this week’s simulation by App Trigger, the team will not be able to do that. The simulations done by the site have the Ravens emerging victorious in a very close 18-17 win.

The real way that the Ravens are going to win is through the kicking game. The team does have Justin Tucker, who is the best kicker in the league, and he is going to have a big game. Daniel George said this of the kicker’s performance in App Trigger’s piece on the simulation:

Justin Tucker using his to lead the Baltimore Ravens to victory. He nailed all four of his kicks, with a lengthy 56-yard kick edging his team over Washington’s squad late in the 4th quarter. Dustin Hopkins matched him with perfect kicks, albeit scoring just one field goal and two extra point attempts.

Getting that kind of performance out of a kicker would be great, but the team is also going to be able to move the ball pretty well. Terrance West is projected to get 89 rushing yards while Joe Flacco is going to pass for 320. The duo should be able to carry the team and really put pressure on the Redskins defense.

The good news for the Redskins is that they will have a chance for a comeback. In the fourth quarter, the team is projected to score 14 of their points. While this means that Kirk Cousins and the offense may not be operating in full gear early, they will get their act together. Perhaps they will be able to do a little bit more early in the game and that could flip the results of this game.

At the end of the day, this game should be a really tight one. The simulation could be right, but it could be off by a few points. If it swings three points in either direction, the results of this contest could be entirely different. The game is definitely going to be an exciting one to watch.
