Long on Loggains: 'I couldn't see Jay Cutler without him'

It's tough for Chicago Bears offensive lineman Kyle Long to imagine his team without Dowell Loggains, who was promoted from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator this week.

Long said Loggains was always by the side of quarterback Jay Cutler during the 2015 season.

Via ESPN's Jeff Dickerson:

He's [Loggains] somebody that works so well with Jay. He's with him every day, all day. I couldn't see Jay Cutler without him, and I couldn't see this offense without him because of his ability to hold guys accountable.

I couldn't have been happier that was the direction [the team] decided to go in.

Loggains helped Cutler post a career-best figures for average yards per attempt (7.6) and passer rating (92.3) this past season. The veteran passer threw 21 touchdowns and only 11 interceptions, completing 64.4 of his attempts for 3,659 yards.

While Loggains has already done a stellar job "fixing" Cutler, his job will be much bigger in 2016. As offensive coordinator, he's charged with improving a unit that ranked 21st in yards per game (344.6) and 23rd in points per game (20.9).
