Lions sign 4 to practice squad

Former Michigan State Spartan Ross Weaver is one of four players signed to the Detroit Lions' practice squad.

The 6-foot-1 defensive back played 41 games at Michigan State from 2005-2009.

Detroit also signed guard Rodney Austin, wide receiver Patrick Edwards and linebacker Carmen Messina to the practice squad.

The undrafted Weaver has never played an NFL game, but he spent time on Detroit's practice squad last year as well.
