LeSean McCoy Injury Update: Bills RB Out For The Game
There might not be a more important player on the Buffalo Bills right now than running back LeSean McCoy, so we can only hope his latest injury his a minor one.
Today’s game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals might be a cursed one for both teams. Earlier today, we saw A.J. Green carted off the field with a hamstring injury, and he was ruled out for the game.
We all know how important Green is to the Bengals offense, as he’s accounted for over 100 receiving yards per contest in 2016. However, running back LeSean McCoy is probably even more crucial to the Bills success, and, sadly, he has also been ruled out of today’s game with an injury.
McCoy is officially out with a thumb injury, and he left the game with the Bills up 13-12. That touchdown came from McCoy, who needed just five carries to pick up 33 yards. Underrated backup Mike Gillislee led the Bills in rushing and had been arguably more impressive with over seven yards per carry.
While the Bills have depth at running back, they do not have a legitimate passing attack. It makes any injury to McCoy tough to watch, because they truly do need all hands on deck on offense. McCoy has averaged over five yards per carry this season and about 85 rushing yards per game, so the potential Hall of Famer’s absence from the final two quarters of today’s game could prove to be huge.
McCoy needs just 105 more rushing yards in 2016 to reach 1,000 yards for the fifth time in his career.
